Personal Summary

Tara Smart has worked in the special education field in Montana schools for over 20 years, gaining experience as a school psychologist and administrative designee. As a seasoned school psychologist, she is passionate about working collaboratively with families and educators to shed light on and advocate for student’s unique learning needs.  As the administrative designee for her district, she facilitates all IEPs and serves as the district’s resource for special education questions. In addition, she provides behavior support and intervention for students as well as in-service training for staff on various topics such as de-escalation strategies, accommodations and modifications, and executive functioning. When she is not at work, she enjoys hiking with her dogs and family, baking sweet treats, and playing hockey.

Tara earned her Ed.S in School Psychology in 2002, her Ed.D in Counselor Education and Supervision in 2016, and her Special Education Administrative Endorsement in 2022.
